China Electronic Cigarette Information: Recently, the United Kingdom released a survey result. The results show that the use of electronic cigarettes in Britain has increased significantly in recent years, with the number of users more than tripling in two years, indicating that more and more people are beginning to take cessation activities. Experts remind relevant departments should strengthen the safety supervision of electronic cigarettes.
The survey surveyed more than 12,000 British adults. The results show that the number of Britons currently using electronic cigarettes is about 2.1 million, far exceeding the 700,000 in 2012.
The survey also found that 71% of those who have abstained from using traditional cigarettes for the purpose of using electronic cigarettes said they were helping to quit smoking altogether; 48% of those who still smoke traditional cigarettes said they had tried smoking cessation . Among e-cigarette users, only about 1% of those who have never smoked traditional cigarettes.
Deborah Arnott, chief executive of the Organization for Tobacco and Health Action, said most people try electronic cigarettes to get rid of traditional cigarettes, so a dramatic increase in e-cigarette users means more and more people are joining the smoking cessation team. However, some experts said that this result shows once again that it is necessary to strengthen supervision over the safety of electronic cigarettes.
Although e-cigarette manufacturers have branded them as safe alternatives to traditional cigarettes, more and more studies show that the safety of e-cigarettes is equally worthy of vigilance. For example, manufacturers often do not specify the components of nicotine for e-cigarettes, so the health risks consumers face are hard to measure. In recent years, the governments of Britain, the United States and France have stepped up or plan to step up the regulation of electronic cigarettes.
